Trial outcomes on Vento film

Vento has been independently assessed by leading agricultural researchers. Results consistently show improved yield, better fruit quality and reduced disease pressure.

Vento trial growth data

Growth & Yield Outcomes

Trial data consistently shows 5–20% yield improvements across strawberry and berry crops when switching from standard PE film to Vento, attributed to improved temperature regulation and reduced crop stress.

Vento trial analysis

Climate & Humidity Analysis

Internal climate monitoring across multiple sites showed significant reductions in peak temperature and relative humidity compared to standard closed film — directly correlating to lower botrytis incidence.

Vento® specifications at a glance

90 / 150 / 180
Thickness (microns)

Three thickness options to suit low tunnels, standard berry tunnels and high-wind or heavy-duty installations.

36 / 48 mo
UV Stabilisation

Full UV stabilisation options across 3 and 4-year service lives. Anti-drip additive included as standard.

Custom
Widths & Perforation

Available in a range of widths to suit standard and custom tunnel frameworks. Perforation pattern engineered for optimal passive airflow.

Passive
Ventilation Type

No fans, motors or active ventilation infrastructure required. Hot air exits from the apex via precision perforations — 100% passive system.

Anti-Drip
Condensation Control

Patented cap design prevents external water entering while allowing internal humidity to escape. Zero condensation drip on fruit or foliage.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions from growers about Vento film — how it works, where to use it, and what to expect.

Vento® is an advanced tunnel and greenhouse film designed to improve climate control through passive ventilation. Manufactured by Daios Plastics S.A. in Greece, Vento features a patented self-ventilating design that reduces heat and humidity, lowers disease risk, and promotes stronger crop performance — without any powered ventilation systems.
Vento is engineered with precision perforations positioned at the apex of the tunnel — the point where hot, humid air naturally accumulates. These perforations allow that air to escape passively, while a patented cap design prevents external rain or irrigation water from entering. The result is continuous natural airflow that regulates internal temperature and humidity without any fans or mechanical systems.
Vento has shown exceptional results in berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries), vegetables (tomatoes, capsicums, cucumbers) and leafy greens. It is especially effective in high-value crops where climate consistency, fruit quality and disease management are critical. Berry crops have been the primary focus of international trials to date.
Yes. One of the key advantages of Vento is its ability to equalise air pressure inside the tunnel during strong winds, reducing uplift and structural stress on the framework. This makes it particularly well suited to exposed coastal or elevated growing regions common in Australia and the USA. The 180 micron option provides maximum mechanical resistance for the most demanding conditions.
Yes. Vento has undergone field trials with UC Davis (University of California) and Driscoll's commercial operations in Mexico, showing measurable improvements in yield, fruit quality, temperature stability and labour efficiency. Additional trials are ongoing in various global regions, including Australia. Contact TerraShield to request trial data and results summaries.
Vento is available in three thickness options — 90, 150 and 180 microns — and in a range of widths to suit standard low-tunnel and high-tunnel frameworks. UV stabilisation is available in 36-month and 48-month options. Custom sizing and perforation patterns are available on request. Contact TerraShield for tailored recommendations based on your crop, structure and growing region.
Depending on your location and UV exposure levels, Vento can be supplied in 36-month or 48-month lifespan options, with full UV stabilisation and anti-drip treatment included. In high-UV environments such as northern Australia or California's Central Valley, the 48-month option is generally recommended. Your TerraShield representative can advise based on your site.
Yes. Vento is compatible with most standard low and high tunnel frameworks. Installation is similar to conventional plastic films, though correct alignment of the ventilation perforations at the tunnel apex is essential for optimal performance. TerraShield provides installation guidance and can assist with planning to ensure correct placement.
